Issuers

An Issuer is the consumer’s own bank — the party that actually confirms every iDEAL | Wero payment.

An Issuer lets its own customers pay via iDEAL | Wero, using their familiar mobile banking app or online banking environment. Once a payment is confirmed, the Issuer books the funds on to the relevant Acquirer, CPSP, or C2C provider.

Many well-known Dutch banks and several challenger banks hold an Issuer licence with Currence, which is exactly why iDEAL | Wero feels as familiar and secure as banking itself — see Security for more on that.

Becoming an Issuer

Your organisation needs to be registered as a payment service provider with a European regulator, and meet Currence’s admission requirements for the Issuer role. See Become a Partner to get started.
